Passenger vans and cargo vans have dome lamps in the following locations:
• | The front of the vehicle |
• | The center of the vehicle |
• | The rear of the vehicle |
Cutaway and upfitter models have a single front dome lamp. The dome lamps are powered by the CTSY fuse through CKT 40 (ORN).
The dome lamp circuit is completed by providing a ground. The dome lamps are grounded through CKT 156 (WHT) by the dome lamp switch, which is part of the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch. The dome lamps are also turned on when the illuminated entry module furnishes a ground to the circuit. Refer to Illuminated Entry and Keyless Entry below.
The optional lighting package includes dome reading lamps, which are part of the dome lamp assembly. Push-button switches operate the dome reading lamps. The reading lamps are turned on by pressing the switch. The reading lamps are turned off by pressing the switch again.
Stepwell lamps (optional) are provided at the following locations:
• | The left front door |
• | The right front door |
• | The side door |
The cutaway model and the upfitter models do not have the stepwell lamp for the side door. CTSY fuse 3 powers at all times the stepwell lamps through CKT 40 (ORN). As with the dome lamps the stepwell lamps have ground through the dome lamp switch and either the illuminated entry module, or the optional remote control door lock receiver.
The left front door and the right front door power side window switch lamps receive power with the park lamps from PARK LPS fuse 9 through the park lamps switch contacts of the headlamp switch. CKT 9 (BRN) delivers the operating voltage to the lamps when the headlamps or the parking lamps are in operation. The lamps have ground by CKT 150 (BLK) at ground 201, or at ground G200 (upfitter provisions).
The left front door and the right front door power door lock window switch lamps receive power from PARK LPS fuse 9 through the park lamps switch contacts of the headlamp switch. CKT 9 (BRN) delivers the operating voltage to the lamps when the headlamps or the parking lamps are in operation. The lamps have ground by CKT 150 (BLK) at ground 201, or at ground G200 (upfitter provisions).
The optional sun shade mirror lamps are in both the passenger sun shade and the driver sun shade. A lamp is on each side of the sun shade mirror. Voltage is available at all times to each sun shade from CTSY fuse 3 through CKT 40 (BRN). CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G201 provides ground. Opening the mirror cover operates an internal switch. The internal switch operates both lamps at the mirror. A local rheostat controls the brightness of both lamps.
The IP compartment lamp is operated by an integral switch which closes whenever the compartment opens. The lamp switch has power at all times from CTSY fuse 3 through CKT 40 (BRN). The lamp has ground by CKT 150 (BLK) at ground G201.
All of the vehicles have an ashtray lamp. The ashtray lamp lights when the parking lamps are in operation. Voltage is available from CKT 9 (BRN) from the headlamp switch. When the headlamp switch is in the park lamps position or in the headlamps position, voltage is available from PARK LPS fuse 9. The lamp has ground by CKT 150 (BLK) at ground G201.
All of the models have an underhood lamp. The TR9 optional lighting package provides an underhood reel lamp. The underhood lamp and the optional underhood reel lamp have power at all times from the HORN fuse through CKT 740 (ORN). The lamps have ground at ground G103 by CKT 150 (BLK).
An internal switch operates the underhood lamp. The internal switch is responsive to level. When the hood is closed, the switch contacts are open. When the hood is raised, the switch responds to the change in orientation. Then the switch contacts close.
The underhood reel lamp has a local ON-OFF switch for the lamp control. The reel lamp has a PUSH latch which, when the latch is pulled out, releases the lamp head. Pull out the lamp from the reel in order to use the lamp anywhere in the general area. After completion of the use of the lamp, use the RETRACT handle in order to rewind the reel's cord on the reel.
Vehicles which do not have remote keyless entry are equipped with an illuminated entry module. The illuminated entry module provides a delayed turn-off of the dome lamps and stepwell lamps. The illuminated entry module receives operating voltage at all times from the POWER ACCY fuse A through CKT 540 (ORN). The module is grounded at G201 through CKT 150 (BLK).
After the doors have been closed, the module keeps the lights illuminated for approximately 40 seconds, or until the ignition switch is placed in the START or RUN position. The RUN or START position signal is carried by CKT 39 (PNK) from the GAUGES fuse. All models have a left front door jamb switch and a right from door jamb switch, but the cutaway models and upfitter models do not have a side door jamb switch or rear door jamb switch. When a door is opened, the jamb switch contacts connect CKT 328 (PPL) to ground. If the dome lamp override push-button has not been pressed, the module senses that a door is open . The module senses a ground input through CKT 157 (GRY) and CKT 328 (PPL).
While a door is is open, the illuminated entry module turns on the courtesy lamps by connecting CKT 156 (WHT) to ground. When all of the doors are closed, the module keeps the lamps on until the ignition switch moves to the RUN or START position.
The remote control door lock receiver replaces the illuminated entry module for vehicles equipped with remote keyless entry. The remote control door lock receiver provides a lamps-off delay after all of the doors are closed, as described in Illuminated Entry Module above. The remote control door lock receiver also turns on the dome lamps and the optional stepwell lamps when the vehicle's doors unlock remotely. The lamps remain lighted for approximately 40 seconds or until the ignition switch is in the RUN position or in the START position.
The remote control door lock receiver has voltage available at all times from the PWR ACCY fuse A through CKT 540 (ORN). The remote control door lock receiver is grounded through CKT 150 (BLK). Export models with anti-theft provisions also use the remote control door lock receiver to activate the lighting control relay. When the lighting control relay is activated, it flashes the turn signal lamps.
