  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the low speed position.

Do the low speed windshield wipers operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch pigtail connector.
  2. Test the resistance through the windshield wiper/washer switch from the accessory voltage supply circuit terminal to the switch signal circuit terminal.
  3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the low speed position.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

630-730 ohms

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Test and repair the windshield wiper/washer switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the windshield wiper motor accesory voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch.
