Depress the cigar lighter into the dash panel.

Does the cigar lighter element heat up and release?

  1. Remove the cigarette lighter element from the receptacle.
  2. Inspect the element.
  3. Disconnect the connector at the cigarette lighter.
  4. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the cigarette lighter connector, cavity A for CKT 640 (ORN), and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a digital multimeter (DMM between the cigarette lighter connector, cavity B for CKT 150 (BLK), and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in CKT 640 (ORN) between the IP fuse block and the cigarette lighter. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the cigarette lighter and ground G201. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
