  1. Close the left front door.
  2. Place the key in the ignition switch.
  3. Listen for the key-in-ignition chime.

Does the key-in-ignition chime sound?

  1. Close the left front door.
  2. Place the key in the ignition switch.
  3. Disconnect multi-function alarm module connector C1.
  4. Connect a J 39200 DMM between multi-function alarm module connector C1 cavity C1 for CKT 80 (LT GRN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

  1. Disconnect steering column connector C200.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200 cavity B4 pigtail wire for CKT 159 (TAN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

  1. Connect C200.
  2. Disconnect the left front door jamb switch.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200 pin B4 for CKT 159 (TAN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 159 (TAN) in the steering column. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 159 (TAN) between connector C200 and the left front door jamb switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the multi-function alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Is the key-in-ignition chime present with the left front door closed?
