DEFINITION: The audible alarm does not sound when the park lamps or head lamps are ON and the ignition switch is not in RUN.

  1. Turn the park lamps ON.
  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

Does the lights-on chime sound?

  1. Adjust the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch to maximum brightness.
  2. Disconnect multi-function alarm module connector C1.
  3. Connect a J 35616-200 unpowered test lamp between multi-function alarm module connector C1 cavity A1 for CKT 8 (GRY) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Place the headlamp switch in the park lamp position.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 8 (GRY) between the IP fuse block and the multi-function alarm module, or in CKT 44 (DK GRN) between the IP dimmer switch and the IP fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
