  1. Open the left front door.
  2. Place the key in the ignition switch.
  3. Close the left front door.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition switch.

Does the key-in-ignition chime sound only when the key is in the ignition and the left front door is open?

  1. Disconnect multi-function alarm module connector C1.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between multi-function alarm module connector C1 cavity C1 for CKT 80 (LT GRN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  3. Close LF Door

  1. Disconnect steering column connector C200.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between multi-function alarm module connector C1 cavity C1 for CKT 80 (LT GRN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200 cavity B3 pigtail lead for CKT 80 (LT GRN) and connector C200 cavity B4 pigtail lead for CKT 159 (TAN). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200 cavity B3 pigtail for CKT 80 (LT GRN) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to ground on CKT 80 (LT GRN) between the multifunction alarm module and connector C200. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 80 (LT GRN) pigtail in the steering column. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Replace the key-in-warning switch. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard, or to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
