The remote keyless entry (RKE) feature allows the operation of the door locks and interior lighting from outside the vehicle.

The 2 components of the system are the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter sends a radio signal to the receiver in response to the button that the vehicle operator presses. The receiver then interprets the signals and activates the required circuitry in order to provide the requested function.

Each receiver recognizes 4 transmitters. You may obtain replacement transmitters, but the transmitters must match a specific receiver. The transmitter receives power by a 3 volt battery and is water resistant.

Functional Operation

The remote keyless entry system will execute the following functions in response to presses of the buttons on the transmitter. The transmitter should be held 10  meters (33 feet) or less from the vehicle for consistent operation.

Driver Door Unlock

When the UNLOCK button on the transmitter is pressed one time, the signal is received by the receiver and unlocks the driver door only.

All Door Unlock

When the UNLOCK button on the transmitter is pressed two times, within one to five seconds of the first, the remaining doors will unlock.

Rear Door Unlock

When the REAR button on the transmitter is pressed two times, the signal is received by the receiver and unlocks the rear door only.

Door Lock

When the LOCK button on the transmitter is pressed one time, the signal is received by the receiver and locks all the doors at once.

Manual Lock

Locks all the doors if all the doors are closed.

Delayed Lock

When a manual lock button is pressed while any door is open, the doors will not lock until 5 seconds after the last door is closed. If the last door is not closed within 10 minutes, the delayed lock function is canceled.

Illuminated Entry

When any UNLOCK button is pressed, the interior dome lamps are turned on for 40 seconds or until the ignition switch is turned ON.
