GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The left and the right power seats are capable of moving in the following directions:

    • Forward
    • Backward
    • Up
    • Down
    • Tilt Forward
    • Tilt Backward

The power seat switch consists of 3  two-position lever switches. The switch contacts close only when the lever is held in position.

The PWR ACCY fuse A powers the power seats at all times through CKT 540 (ORN). The left power seat grounds through CKT 150 (BLK) at ground G201. The right power seat grounds through CKT 150 (BLK) at ground G402.

Each seat has three motors. The power seat forward/rearward motor moves the seat forward or rearward. The power seat front tilt motor moves the front of the seat up or down. The rear tilt motor moves the rear of the seat up or down. When the switch is in the up or down position, the tilt is not changed because the front and the rear tilt motors operate simultaneously to raise or lower the seat. The direction of the current flow determines the direction of rotation of each motor. Each motor has an automatic reset thermal circuit breaker. If the seat motion is restrained, the heat generated by the motor will open the circuit breaker. After the circuit is open, the circuirt breaker cools and resets.
