Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 354059  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining nut for the oil level indicator and tube.
  4. Remove the oil level indicator and tube from the engine block.

  5. Object Number: 276410  Size: SH
  6. Remove the O-ring (1) from the oil level indicator and tube.
  7. Remove the clip from the oil level indicator tube.

Installation Procedure

Important: When installing the oil level indicator tube to the engine, always use a new O-ring.

  1. Apply clean engine oil to the oil level indicator and tube O-ring.

  2. Object Number: 276410  Size: SH
  3. Install the new O-ring on the oil level indicator and tube.

  4. Object Number: 354059  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil level indicator and tube and retaining nut and clip to the engine.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil level indicator and tube nut to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  7. Install the Engine Cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
