J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the low pressure sensor.
  4. Remove the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .

  6. Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  7. Remove the keep cover.

  8. Object Number: 300823  Size: SH
  9. Remove the evaporator case front cover retaining screws.
  10. Remove the evaporator front cover.
  11. Separate the case halves.
  12. Remove the evaporator core.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the evaporator core to the module.

  2. Object Number: 300823  Size: SH
  3. Install the evaporator front cover.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the evaporator case front cover retaining screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Install the keep cover.

  9. Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  10. Install the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .
  11. Connect the electrical connectors.
  12. Install the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
