Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt from the engine. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-6.5L.

  2. Object Number: 163784  Size: SH
  3. Remove the mounting bolts from the brace.
  4. Remove the brace from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the idler pulley if necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the idler pulley if necessary.

  2. Object Number: 163784  Size: SH
  3. Install the brace to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the mounting bolts to the brace.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the auxiliary generator brace mounting bolts to:

    • The long bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
    • The short bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  7. Install the drive belt to the engine. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-6.5L.
