Filler Tube Replacement Passenger/Cargo Van
Removal Procedure
- Clean all the fuel pipe
and hose connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting in order
to avoid contamination of the fuel system.
- Drain the fuel below the level of the fuel tank fill hose. Refer
to
Fuel Tank Draining
.
- Remove the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing (3)
bolts.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen the fuel fill hose to fuel fill pipe clamp.
- Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel fill pipe.
- Remove the fuel fill pipe.
- Cap the open end of the fuel fill hose.
Installation Procedure
- Uncap the fuel fill hose.
- Install the fuel fill pipe to the fuel fill hose.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Align the fuel fill pipe to the fuel
fill pipe housing (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.75 N·m (24 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing bolts.
- Refill the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Filler Tube Replacement Cutaway Van Rear Tank
Removal Procedure
- Clean all the fuel pipe

- Drain the fuel below the level of the fuel tank fill hose. Refer

- Remove the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing bolts.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen the fuel fill hose to fuel fill pipe clamp (3).
- Disconnect the fuel fill hose (6) from the fuel fill pipe (5).
- Remove the fuel fill pipe.
- Cap the open end of the fuel fill hose.
Installation Procedure
- Uncap the fuel fill hose.
- Install the fuel fill pipe (5) to the fuel fill hose (6).
- Align the fuel fill pipe to the fuel fill pipe housing.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.75 N·m (24 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing bolts.
- Refill the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
