1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Driveline Axle.



3. Remove the rear extension oil seal.

Tools Required

J 21426 Rear Extension Seal Installer

1. Install the new seal using J 21426 Rear Extension Seal Installer.
2. Coat the outer edge of the seal case with the non-hardening sealer provided.
3. Coat the seal lips with Transjel®.
4. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Driveline Axle.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the transmission to the proper level with Dexron® III Transmission Fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check
