Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Remove the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
3. Remove the push-pins from the hood latch cover.
4. Remove the lower hood latch cover from the vehicle. Refer to Hood Latch Cover Replacement in Body Front End.
5. Remove the hood latch from the vehicle. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement in Body Front End.
6. Remove the left hand headlamp housing. Refer to Headlamp Capsule Replacement in Lighting Systems.



7. Remove the A/C lines (4) from the condenser (1).



8. Remove the retaining bolts from the condenser.
9. Remove the condenser (3) from the vehicle.

1. Install the condenser (3) to the vehicle.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the retaining bolts to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the condenser retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).




3. Install the A/C lines (4) to the condenser (1).

Tighten
Tighten the compressor discharge hose to the condenser to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

4. Install the left hand headlamp housing. Refer to Headlamp Capsule Replacement in Lighting Systems.
5. Install the hood latch to the vehicle. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement in Body Front End.
6. Install the lower hood latch cover to the vehicle. Refer to Hood Latch Cover Replacement in Body Front End.
7. Install the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
9. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
