Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the heater and A/C line cover from the underside of the
auxiliary evaporator module.
- Remove the heater lines from the auxiliary evaporator module from
the underside of vehicle.
- Remove the one retaining nut in order to remove the auxiliary
evaporator underbody rear tube assembly from the core.
- Remove the two nuts securing the auxiliary evaporator module from
the underside of the vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the left body side
rear trim panel. Refer to
Body Side Rear Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the upper/lower auxiliary air outlet duct assembly .Refer
to
Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement
.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the two bolts inside the vehicle retaining the case to
the vehicle.
- Remove the auxiliary evaporator module assembly (1) from
the vehicle.
- Remove the screws from
the case.
- Separate the case halves.
- Remove the evaporator core seal.
- Remove the evaporator core from the auxiliary HVAC module.
- Inspect the gaskets and the seals for damage.
- Replace the gaskets and the seals, as needed.
Installation Procedure
- Install the evaporator
core to the auxiliary HVAC module.
- Install the evaporator core seal.
- Reassemble the case halves.
- Install the auxiliary
evaporator module assembly (1) to the vehicle.
- Install the two bolts inside the vehicle in order to retain the
case to the vehicle.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the upper/lower auxiliary air outlet ducts assembly. Refer
to
Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement
.
- Install the left body side rear trim panel. Refer to
Body Side Rear Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the two nuts securing the auxiliary evaporator module to the
underside of the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the one retaining nut to the auxiliary evaporator underbody
rear tube assembly to the core.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the heater lines to the auxiliary evaporator module from
the underside of vehicle.
- Install the heater and A/C line cover to the underside of the
auxiliary evaporator module.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the engine coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A
.
