Removal Procedure
Important: Vehicles equipped with LB7 cut the blower motor sound insulator to gain
access to the blower motor.
- Remove the coolant recovery tank or the surge tank. Refer to
Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement
or
Radiator Surge Tank Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Disconnect the electrical
connectors from the blower motor.
- Remove the retaining screws (4) from the blower motor.
- Remove the blower motor (3) from the case (1).
- Remove the retaining clip from the fan cage.
- Remove the fan cage (2) from the blower motor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fan cage (2)
to the blower motor (3).
- Install the retaining clip to the fan cage.
- Install the blower motor to the case (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the retaining screws (4) to the blower motor.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connectors to the blower motor.
- Secure the blower motor insulator, if equipped with LB7.
- Install the coolant recovery tank or the surge tank. Refer to
Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement
or
Radiator Surge Tank Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
