  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn OFF the headlamps.
  3. Ensure the park brake is released.

Does the DRL system operate normally?

Turn ON the low beam headlamps.

Do the low beam headlamps operate correctly?

Is the DRL indicator inoperative while the DRL are illuminated?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition key.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay control circuit of the instrument cluster and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the DRL relay control circuit for an open or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the DRL control module for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the DRL control module for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DRL control module connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the park brake switch signal circuit of the DRL control module and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the park brake switch signal circuit of the park brake switch for a short to voltage, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the relay and a good ground.

Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay control circuit of the daytime running lamp rear park lamp relay and battery voltage.
