Removal Procedure
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
- Remove the EGR valve harness connector.
- Remove the EGR valve to flange attaching bolts.
- Remove the linear EGR valve.
- Remove the flange gasket.
- Clean the linear EGR valve gasket surface.
Important: Carefully note the position of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve before removal. Do not rotate the EGR valve 180 degrees.
Notice: The Linear EGR valve is an electrical component. DO NOT soak in any liquid cleaner or solvent because damage may result.
Important: Do not try to disassemble the linear EGR valve. Service only as a complete assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new flange gasket
- Install the linear EGR valve.
- Install the valve to flange bolts.
- Tighten the bolts the first time to 10 N·m (89 lb in) each.
- Tighten the bolts a final time to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) each.
- Install the EGR valve harness connector.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
