Removal Procedure

Important: When replacing the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe, always replace the pipe with original equipment or parts that meet the GM specifications for this part. The replacement pipe must have the same type of fittings as the original pipe in order to ensure the integrity of the connection.

  1. Clean all the EVAP pipe connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting the pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the EVAP system.
  2. Disconnect the engine compartment EVAP pipe (1) from the chassis EVAP pipe (2).
  3. Cap the engine compartment EVAP pipe.
  4. Caution: Refer to Road Test Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the EVAP pipe from the bellhousing stud clip (3).
  7. Remove the EVAP pipe from the transmission bracket clip.

  9. Remove the EVAP pipe from the transfer case bracket clip, 4-wheel drive only.

  10. Object Number: 569626  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the rear EVAP purge pipe (3) from the chassis EVAP purge pipe (2).
  12. Cap the rear EVAP purge pipe (3).

  13. Object Number: 304560  Size: SH
  14. Note the position of the EVAP pipe for aid in installation.
  15. Remove the EVAP pipe from the retaining clips (1).
  16. Remove the EVAP pipe.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 304560  Size: SH
  1. Install the EVAP pipe into the retaining clips (1).

  2. Object Number: 569626  Size: SH
  3. Remove the cap from the rear EVAP pipe.
  4. Connect the rear EVAP purge pipe (3) to the chassis EVAP purge pipe (2).

  5. Object Number: 300385  Size: SH
  6. Install the EVAP pipe into the transfer case bracket clip, 4-wheel drive only.

  7. Object Number: 583167  Size: SH
  8. Install the EVAP pipe into the transmission bracket clip.
  9. Install the EVAP pipe into the bellhousing stud clip (3).
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the cap from the engine compartment EVAP pipe.
  12. Connect the engine compartment EVAP pipe (1) to the chassis EVAP pipe (2).
