Power Steering Pump Rear Bracket Replacement 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7L Engines

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 309292  Size: SH
  1. Remove the power steering pump (1) from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Remove the retaining nuts (3) from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the brace (2) from the back side of the pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 309292  Size: SH
  1. Install the brace (2) to the back side of the pump (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the steering pump brace retaining nuts (3) to the vehicle.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the steering pump brace retaining nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the steering pump to the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Power Steering Pump Rear Bracket Replacement 8.1L Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 644347  Size: SH
  1. Remove the power steering pump (1) from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Remove the retaining nuts (4) from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the brace (3) from the back side of the pump (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brace (3) to the back side of the pump (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Power Steering Pump Rear Bracket Replacement 6.5L Diesel Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 648599  Size: SH
  1. Remove the power steering pump (1) from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Remove the nuts retaining the brace (3) from the back side of the pump.
  3. Remove the brace from the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 648599  Size: SH
  1. Install the brace (3) to the back side of the pump (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.
