Removal Procedure

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir.

  2. Object Number: 309295  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the hose (3) from the steering pump (2).
  4. Disconnect the hose from the reservoir (1).

  5. Object Number: 407982  Size: SH
  6. For vehicles with hydroboost, remove the clamps retaining the reservoir inlet hose (3) from the hydraulic brake booster (2).
  7. Remove the hose from the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 309294  Size: SH
  9. Remove the nuts (4) retaining the reservoir (3) to the vehicle.
  10. Remove the reservoir.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 309294  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the reservoir (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the reservoir retaining nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  3. For vehicles with hydroboost, install the hose to the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 407982  Size: SH
  5. Install the clamps retaining the reservoir inlet hose (3) to the hydraulic brake booster (2).

  6. Object Number: 309295  Size: SH
  7. Connect the hose (3) to the reservoir (1).
  8. Connect the hose to the steering pump (2).
  9. Fill the reservoir with fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
