Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to
Engine Cover Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector from
the electrical harness at the intake manifold.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector from
the intake manifold bracket.
- Remove the coolant temperature
sensor from the cylinder head.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the coolant temperature sensor to the cylinder head.
Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Snap the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector to the
intake manifold bracket.
- Connect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector to
the wiring harness at the intake manifold.
- Install the engine cover. Refer to
Engine Cover Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Start the engine. After the engine reached normal operating temperature,
check for coolant leaks.
