J 39400 Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Important: When removing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting on the sealing surfaces of the washers, fittings or compressor ports. Clean all of the sealing surfaces with a lint-free cloth.

  3. Remove the compressor hose bolt from the compressor.
  4. Remove the compressor hose from the compressor.
  5. Remove the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install new sealing washers.
  2. Important: When installing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting on the sealing surfaces of the washers, fittings or compressor ports. Clean all of the sealing surfaces with a lint-free cloth.

    Do not reuse the sealing washers.

    Do not oil the sealing washers prior to assembly.

  3. Install the compressor hose onto the compressor.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the compressor hose bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  8. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400 .
