Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the hood.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the horn assembly.
- Remove the nut (2) that retains the horn mounting bracket (1) to the vehicle.
- Remove the horn assembly from the vehicle.
- Note the location of the trumpet mouth relative to the mounting bracket .
- Remove the nut holding the horn to the mounting bracket.
- Remove the horn from the mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the horn to the mounting bracket.
- Line up the trumpet mouth in the same direction as the original.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nut holding the horn to the mounting bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (90 lb in).
- Install the horn assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the nut (2) in order to retain the horn mounting bracket (1) to the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connectors to the horn assembly.
- Close the hood.
