Some customers may comment on a clunk noise on turns. Also the customer may have been advised during a state vehicle inspection to return to the dealer for a front end inspection.
This noise may be the inner right tie rod making contact with the frame on left turns.
Inspect for wear / damage in the idler arm / pitman arm and the inner tie rod. If necessary, replace the parts. If a clunking noise is present when turning left, follow the procedure below.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 63 N·m (47 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).
Important: Side to side measurement should not exceed 4 mm (0.16 in). See the chart below.
Tighten
Tighten the sway bar nuts and bolts to 46 N·m
(34 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
