Discharge Hose Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  3. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  4. Remove the discharge line nut (2) from the condenser.
  5. Remove the discharge line bolt from the compressor.
  6. Remove the discharge line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  1. Install the discharge hose into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the discharge hose nut (2) to the condenser.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  6. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  7. Install the discharge hose to the compressor bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  10. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .

Discharge Hose Replacement 4.3L

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the headlight capsule. Refer to Headlamp Capsule Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  4. Remove the discharge line nut (2) from the condenser.
  5. Remove the discharge line bolt from the compressor.
  6. Remove the discharge line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the discharge hose into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the discharge hose nut (2) to the condenser.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Install the headlight capsule. Refer to Headlamp Capsule Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  6. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  7. Install the discharge hose to the compressor bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
