Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis Front

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1824829  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes from the engine compartment fuel pipes.
  4. Remove the fuel pipes from the bellhousing stud retainer clip.
  5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Disconnect the chassis fuel return pipe at the rear fuel return pipe.
  7. Remove the fuel pipe retaining clips. Note the location of the retaining clips for installation.
  8. Remove the fuel feed and return pipes.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the fuel feed and return pipes in the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the fuel pipe retaining clips (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Connect the chassis fuel return pipe to the rear fuel return pipe.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Connect the fuel feed and return pipes to the engine compartment fuel pipes.
  9. Ensure the O-rings are in place.

    Tighten
    Tighten the fuel pipe fittings to 27 N·m (20 lb ft) using a backup wrench.

  10. Install the fuel pipes to the retainer clip.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel pipe retainer clip nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  12. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Inspect for leaks:
  15. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  16. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .

Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis Rear, Side Tank

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Disconnect the front chassis fuel linse.
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Disconnect the chassis fuel return pipe at the rear fuel return pipe.
  6. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed pipe at the rear fuel feed pipe.

  7. Object Number: 420629  Size: SH
  8. Remove the fuel pipe retaining clips (1).
  9. Remove the fuel feed and return pipes.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 420629  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the fuel feed and return pipes and the fuel pipe retaining clips (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  3. Connect the chassis fuel return pipe to the rear fuel return pipe.
  4. Connect the chassis fuel feed pipe to the rear fuel feed pipe.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the front chassis fuel lines.
  7. Refill the fuel tank.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Inspect for leaks:
  10. 8.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    8.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    8.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    8.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.

Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis Rear, Rear Tank

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  4. Disconnect the front chassis fuel lines.
  5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  7. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed and return pipes at the rear fuel feed and return pipes (2).
  8. Remove the fuel pipe retaining clips (1).
  9. Remove the fuel feed and return pipes.

  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  3. Connect the chassis fuel feed and return pipes to the rear fuel feed and return pipes (2).
  4. Connect the chassis fuel return pipe to the rear fuel return pipe (2).
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the front chassis fuel lines.
  7. Refill the fuel tank.
  8. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Inspect for leaks:
  11. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
