J 39529 Heater Hose Pliers

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 160838  Size: SH
  1. Remove the bolt from coolant recovery reservoir.
  2. Set aside the coolant recovery reservoir.
  3. Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling in the G Van Service Manual.

  4. Object Number: 729217  Size: SH
  5. Remove the hose clamp at the heater hose fitting (2) using the J 39529 .
  6. Disconnect the coolant hose from the fitting (2).
  7. Remove the clips that retain the coolant line to the vehicle. Observe the location of the clips for reinstallation.

  8. Object Number: 728886  Size: SH
  9. Remove the hose clamp at the high pressure regulator fitting (2, 6) using the J 39529 .
  10. Disconnect the coolant hose from the high pressure regulator fitting (2, 6).
  11. Remove the coolant hose assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 728886  Size: SH
  1. Route the coolant hose assembly between the high pressure regulator (4) and the heater hose connector.
  2. Clamp the coolant hose to the high pressure regulator fitting (2, 6) using the J 39529 .
  3. Install the clips that retain the coolant hose to the vehicle in their original location.

  5. Clamp the coolant hose at the heater hose fitting (2) using the J 39529 .

  6. Object Number: 160838  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Position the coolant recovery reservoir and install the mounting bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling in the G Van Service Manual.
  10. Verify that the system has no leaks.
