J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim in the G Van Service Manual.



2. Disconnect the fuel supply tube (4) at the solenoid.
3. Remove the spring clamp and fuel outlet hose from the solenoid.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector. The idle control solenoid connector is red.
5. Remove the 2 solenoid mounting bolts (6).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Position the solenoid (5) and install the 2 mounting bolts (6).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

2. Connect the fuel outlet hose and spring clamp.
3. Connect the fuel supply tube (4).
4. Connect the electrical connector.
5. Start the engine and use the J 41416 in order to inspect for leaks at each serviced fitting.
6. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim in the G Van Service Manual.
