Access Panel System Components
The access panel system consists of the following components:
• | Left front access panel |
• | Right rear access panel |
• | Access panel relays for each access panel |
• | Two access panel release actuators for each access panel |
• | Body control module (BCM) |
• | Remote control door lock receiver |
• | Panel actuator fuse - 15-amp |
Access Panel System Controls
The access panel will only release when the vehicle is in PARK and are disabled
when the vehicle is out of park.
The access panels are control by using the keyless entry system. The left front
panel is released by pressing the unlock button on the key FOB twice. The first push
will unlock all doors. The left rear and right rear panels are released by pressing
the appropriate button on the key FOB.
Access Panel System Operation
The access panel system receives battery voltage at all times through the PANEL
ACTUATOR fuse.
When the left rear access panel button on the key FOB is pressed the BCM will
ground the coil side of the left rear access panel relay. That energizes the relay
and the left rear access panel actuator control circuit will supply battery voltage
to the left rear access panel actuators. Since the left rear access panel actuators
receive a constant ground they will release the left rear access panel.
The remainder of the access panels functions operate in the same manner as described
above.
