J 43631 Ball Joint Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 828852  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the idler arm to relay rod retaining nut.
  3. Discard the nut.


    Object Number: 832356  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the idler arm from the relay rod using the J 43631 .

  5. Object Number: 828848  Size: SH
  6. Remove the idler arm to frame mounting bolts.
  7. Remove the idler arm from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 828848  Size: SH
  1. Install the idler arm to the frame.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the idler arm to frame mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).

  5. Install the idler arm to the relay rod.
  6. Install the new idler arm to relay rod retaining nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 63 N·m (47 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
