J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  4. Remove the discharge hose retaining nut (2) .
  5. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.

  6. Object Number: 924814  Size: SH
  7. Remove the evaporator hose retaining nut (1).
  8. Remove the evaporator hose from the condenser.

  9. Object Number: 924822  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the outside air temperature sensor  (1).

  11. Object Number: 924817  Size: SH
  12. Remove the outside air temperature bracket bolt (1).
  13. Remove the bracket.
  14. Remove the sealing washers from the hoses.

  15. Object Number: 834244  Size: SH
  16. Remove the condenser retaining bolts (3).
  17. Remove the condenser (2).
  18. Cap off the condenser fittings.

Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing condenser, add the specified amount of PAG oil directly into the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

  2. Object Number: 834244  Size: SH
  3. Remove the plugs from the condenser fittings.
  4. Install new sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  5. Install the condenser.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the condenser retaining bolts (3).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the outside air temperature bracket.

  11. Install the outside air temperature bracket bolt (1).

  12. Object Number: 924822  Size: SH
  13. Connect the outside air temperature sensor electrical connector to the sensor (1).

  14. Object Number: 924814  Size: SH
  15. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser.
  16. Install the evaporator hose retaining nut (1).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  18. Install the discharge hose to the condenser.
  19. Install the discharge hose nut (2).
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  21. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  22. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  23. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
