Discharge Hose Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  3. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  4. Remove the discharge line nut (2) from the condenser.
  5. Remove the discharge line bolt from the compressor.
  6. Remove the discharge line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 924812  Size: SH
  1. Install the discharge hose into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the discharge hose nut (2) to the condenser.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  6. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  7. Install the discharge hose to the compressor bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  10. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  4. Remove the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 1652913  Size: SH
  6. Remove the discharge hose mounting bolt (1) from the A/C compressor.
  7. Remove the discharge hose (4) from the A/C compressor.

  8. Object Number: 1652915  Size: SH
  9. Remove the discharge hose nut from the condenser.
  10. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.
  11. Remove the discharge hose from the vehicle.
  12. Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap the system openings.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the discharge hose to the vehicle.
  2. Install new sealing washers to the discharge hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1652915  Size: SH
  4. Install the discharge hose to the condenser.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the discharge hose to condenser retaining nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Install the discharge hose (4) to the A/C compressor.
  9. Install the discharge hose to A/C compressor mounting bolt (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  13. Install the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  14. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  15. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
