The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A dealer may encounter a customer concern of Engine Overheating or Too Hot In Vehicle.

The condition described in this PI will occur when ambient temperatures are high and the vehicle is used for extended idle times.

Complete the current SI diagnostics for any trouble codes or symptoms found.

If diagnostics were inconclusive and a customer concern with overheating or poor air conditioning performance has been found, there has been a new fan clutch released to repair the concern.

At this time the fan clutch will be ordered through the Warranty Parts Center (WPC).

Dealers will have to contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center to order an updated fan clutch.

Note: The fan clutch is used for a repair only if the overheating/air conditioning performance is duplicated when ambient temperatures are high, and vehicles are idling for long periods of time.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
