Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert a tape, CD, or CD magazine with at least 1 audio CD inside, into the remote playback device.
  4. Turn ON the remote playback device.

Does the remote playback device operate without audio noise?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the remote playback device.
  3. Test the drain wire circuit of the remote playback device for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the remote playback device audio common signal circuit of the remote playback device for a short, high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect the audio harness shield of the remote playback device for damage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the remote playback device. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .
