Power Brake Booster Inlet Hose Replacement With Diesel

Removal Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the left front tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  4. Working through the left wheelhouse, loosen the charged air cooler inlet duct clamp (1) at the charged air cooler.
  5. Disconnect the charged air cooler from the elbow connection (2) and reposition the left charged air cooler inlet duct for access to the power steering gear inlet line connection at the gear.
  6. Remove the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  7. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  9. Remove the brake booster inlet clamp bolt from the frame rail.
  10. Remove the power brake booster hose from the power steering pump.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the power brake booster hose (1) from the brake booster.
  13. Remove the power brake booster hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Route the hose in the same position the hose occupied prior to removal.
  2. Install the power brake booster hose (1) to the brake booster (2). Hand tighten only.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the power brake booster hose (1) to the power steering pump (3) through the wheel well.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power brake booster hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Install the power brake booster hose clamp bolt to the frame rail.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the power brake booster hose clamp to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).

  9. Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 877283  Size: SH

    Important: Do not over tighten the charged air cooler pipe clamps. If the clamp is over tightened, the pipe may become distorted allowing separation of the hose from the pipe. Ensure the charged air cooler pipe/hoses are properly orientated.

  11. Working through the left wheelhouse, connect the charged air cooler inlet duct (1) to the elbow.
  12. Tighten the charged air cooler outlet duct to intake hose clamp.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the clamps to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  14. Install the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  15. Install the left front tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Tighten the power brake booster hose to brake booster.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the power brake booster hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  19. Install the power brake booster hose to power steering pump.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten both power brake booster hose fittings to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  21. Install the brake booster inlet hose clamp bolt to frame rail.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the brake booster inlet hose clamp bolt to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).

  23. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  24. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
