Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the center console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Remove the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  5. Remove the lower I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove the passenger side airbag module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  7. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  8. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement or HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  9. Remove the accessory switch housing. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement .
  10. Remove the left air louver housing. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Deflector Replacement - Left Side .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  12. Remove the communication interface module (CIM), if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement .
  13. Remove the remote control door lock receiver module, if equipped. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .
  14. Remove the data link connector from the I/P. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement .
  15. Remove the park brake release lever from the I/P. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .
  16. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  17. Remove both front window air ducts from the I/P assembly.
  18. Remove the harness from the I/P. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Right Side .

  20. Remove the I/P assembly retaining bolts (3) and nuts (4).
  21. Remove all harness hold down retainers from the I/P assembly.
  22. Remove the I/P assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the I/P assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Install the harness hold down retainers to the I/P assembly.

  3. Object Number: 394655  Size: SH
  4. Install the I/P assembly retaining bolts (3) and nuts (4).
  5. Ensure the wire harness is routed to all of the openings.

  6. Install the harness to the I/P. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Right Side .
  7. Install both front window air duct to the I/P assembly.
  8. Install the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  9. Install the park brake release lever to the I/P. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .
  10. Install the data link connector to the I/P. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement .
  11. Install the remote control door lock receiver module, if equipped. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .
  12. Install the CIM, if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement .
  13. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  14. Install the left air louver housing. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Deflector Replacement - Left Side .
  15. Install the accessory switch housing. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement .
  16. Install the HVAC control. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement or HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  17. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  18. Install the passenger side airbag module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  19. Install the lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  20. Install the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  21. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  22. Install the center console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement .
  23. Install the I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
