Subject:Turn Signal Lane Change Feature Correction

Models:2006-2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic
2006-2007 GMC Sierra Classic

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment that their turn signal lane change feature does not work as described in the owner's manual (see below).

"To signal a lane change, raise or lower the lever for less than one second until the arrow starts to flash. This will cause the turn signals to automatically flash three times. It will flash six times if tow-haul mode is active."

Recommendation/Instructions:

The owner's manual is incorrect and the lane change feature works as follows:

"The turn signal has two upward (for right) and two downward (for left) positions. These positions allow you to signal a turn or a lane change. To signal a turn, move the lever all the way up or down. When the turn is finished, the lever will return automatically. To signal a lane change, just raise or lower the lever until the arrow starts to flash. Hold it there until you complete your lane change. The lever will return by itself when you release it."

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
