Bridgestone Duravis Tire Chip and Tear Issue - keywords chunking stone tread wear worn

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some owners may comment of a concern with their LT245/75R16 Bridgestone Duravis M773 tires showing signs of chips/tears/chunks in the tread. A compound change was made to improve the tire's resistance to chip & tear, which usually occurs from gravel road driving.

To correct this concern replace the tires with the updated compound tires. To verify the replacement tires are of the new construction, check the date code of the tire. The last 4 digits of the complete eleven digit DOT number will be the date code. Any tires built on or after 4506 are of the new construction. The 4 digit date code is read as the first 2 digits indicate the week of the year and the last 2 as the year, example 4506 is the 45th week of 2006.

Note: In most cases, only a partial DOT number will be on the outer side wall, and the complete DOT number will be on the vehicle side of the tire.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
