The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Questions on puddle lamp operation have been received. SI and the owner's manual are not clear on the operation and may state they come on when the doors are open.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The puddle lights do not turn on when the doors are open. Their operation can be looked at in the following scenarios:
- Approaching the vehicle.
• | For the puddle lights to opeate "Perimeter Lighting" must be turned on using the steering wheel controls and it must be dark outside. |
• | If both requirements are met, when the Key Fob unlock button is pressed the puddle lights will light for approximately 20-30 seconds. |
- Exiting the vehicle.
• | For the puddle lights to operate "Headlights on at Exit" must have one of the delay settings turned on using the steering wheel controls and it must be dark outside. |
• | For the puddle lights to operate "Headlights on at Exit" must have one of the delay settings turned on using the steering wheel controls and it must be dark outside. |
Important: Headlights on at Exit delay is set for 20 seconds the puddle lights will stay on for 20 seconds.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
