Diagnostic Aids

If only the right front turn signal is inoperative check for an open CTSY fuse in the I/P fuse block. If the fuse is open refer to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative .

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Activate the left and right turn signals.

Do the turn signals and indicators operating properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Is only one lamp inoperative?

Go to Step 4

Place a test lamp between the supply voltage and ground circuits at the inoperative lamp socket or connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the turn signal is activated?

Go to Step 14

Test for an open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit or ground circuit of the inoperative lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

With a scan tool, activate each turn signal with the body control module (BCM) output control function.

Do all lamps operate correctly?

Go to Step 8

Are only the instrument panel (I/P) turn signal indicators inoperative?

Go to Step 11

Test for one of the following conditions. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

    • An open, high resistance, or short to voltage in either turn signal switch signal circuit
    • An open or high resistance in the turn signal switch ground circuit

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

Test for a short to ground in the supply voltage circuits of the inoperable lamps. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test for a poor connection at the harness connector at the BCM, driver door switch, or passenger door switch as applicable. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 15

Replace the multifunction turn signal switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 15

Replace the BCM, driver door switch, or passenger door switch as applicable. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the inoperative turn signal lamp. Refer to the appropriate replacement procedure.

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
  2. Verify that the turn signal lamps and indicators operate properly.
