The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A dealer may encounter a New Body Style 4 wheel drive vehicle with an intermittent no start, stall, SES light on, or a security light on. The vehicle may also have a low fuel pressure, or intermittent loss of fuel pressure.
Complete the current SI diagnostics for any symptoms or trouble codes found. During diagnosis inspect for a wire harness chafe near the front drive shaft. There is a wire harness located above the front drive shaft that may make contact with the forward area of the drive shaft. The harness should be secured to a supporting bracket by a plastic clinch style clip.
If the wiring harness has contacted the front drive shaft make wiring repairs following SI repair procedures.
If the retaining clip is not present, use a tie strap to secure the harness to the metal fuel line bracket. If the clip is present, and excessive harness length may still contact the front drive shaft, relocate the inboard clip (that is part of wiring harness) and tie strap the harness so it cannot reach the drive shaft.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
