The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

As part of our ongoing quality improvement efforts, the trailer brake module (Part # 25818152, 25854535, 25788981, 25907533, 25866061) and the trailer brake relay (Part # 25837945, 25848909) are being put on restriction through the PQC effective Tuesday 4/29/08. The restriction is to assist GM Engineering with product quality feedback.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To order either the trailer brake module (Part # 25818152, 25854535, 25788981, 25907533, 25866061) or the trailer brake relay (Part # 25837945, 25848909) please complete the questionnaire below and contact the PQC at 1-866-654-7654 to review your answers:

  1. Is the customer complaint (failure) repeatable? Y/N
  2. List all DTCs:
  3. List all DTCs in History for all control modules:
  4. Does vehicle have aftermarket 5th wheel harness, UY2 camper harness, or any other accessories (lights, cap, etc) wired into vehicle trailer wiring?
  5. Is the trailer brake wiring harness routed properly? (No stretched, broken, or pinched wiring)
  6. Did the tech investigate wiring for shorts between the trailer brake module and the trailer brake relay and between the trailer brake relay and the 7-way trailer connector in the bumper as stated in PIT4595A and the diagnostic service procedures? - Y/N (If yes proceed with template questions. If no, tech should perform tests as stated in PIT4595A and call back when ready.)

  8. Document each step of the trouble chart. (Include all DVM readings/comments)

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
