Radiator Replacement LMM

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. If necessary, remove air cleaner resonator duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement
  3. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement
  4. Remove the surge tank inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  5. Remove the charge air cooler inlet and outlet pipes. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement and Charge Air Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement .
  6. Remove the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .

Radiator Bolt (Qty: 4)

Tip
Radiator is mounted to the charged air cooler.

Radiator Assembly

Radiator Replacement 4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L,and 6.0L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 660895  Size: SH
  1. Remove the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement.
  2. Remove the radiator outlet hose for the 4.3L engine, or the 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L engines. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the engine oil cooler lines from the radiator, If Equipped. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator, If Equipped. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
  5. Remove the radiator bolts.
  6. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 660895  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the radiator bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator, If Equipped. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
  6. Connect the engine oil cooler lines to the radiator, If Equipped. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement.
  7. Install the radiator outlet hose for the 4.3L engine, or the 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L engines. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement.
  8. Install the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement.
