Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1698082  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. For 1500 series vehicles, remove the oil pan skid plate bolts and skid plate, if equipped.

  3. Object Number: 1698083  Size: SH
  4. For 2500 series vehicles, loosen the 2 rear oil pan skid plate bolts, remove the 2 front oil pan skid plate bolts and skid plate, if equipped.

  5. Object Number: 1658113  Size: SH
  6. Place a suitable drain pan under the oil filter.
  7. Remove the oil filter (437).

  8. Object Number: 1658160  Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil filter adapter (438).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1658160  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil filter adapter (438).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the adapter to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).

  3. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
  4. Install the oil filter (437).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the filter to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  6. For 2500 series vehicles, position the oil pan skid plate and tighten until snug the 2 rear oil pan skid plate bolts, install the 2 front oil pan skid plate bolts, if equipped.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. For 1500 series vehicles, position the oil pan skid plate and install the oil pan skid plate bolts, if equipped.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Refill the engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities and/or Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
  12. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
