The driver door switch (DDS) and passenger door switch (PDS) control the power window functions through the power window motor up and down control circuits. The door switches monitor the control circuits for fault conditions when up or down operation is requested prior to activating the function and during operation.
• | Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts. |
• | The ignition switch is in the ON position. |
The DDS or PDS detects a short to ground or short to voltage on their respective window motor control circuit.
The DDS or PDS has detected excessive current flow on their respective window motor control circuit.
The affected power window will be inoperative.
• | The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present. |
• | When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles. |
The DTC can be set due to excessive physical resistance in the window regulator assembly. Ensure proper mechanical operation of the regulator assembly prior to replacing electrical components.

Igntition ON, observe the operation of the front power windows while commanding each window UP and DOWN by using their respective window switches, each window should perform the UP and DOWN function.
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the door module. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the door module. |
⇒ | If the function does not perform as specified, replace the window motor. |
⇒ | If the function does not perform as specified, replace the window motor. |
