- Use an impact gun to loosen and remove the nut from the main shaft.
- Remove the yoke flange from the main shaft, as necessary.
- Using a 10 mm socket, remove the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) screw.
- Remove the VSS.
- Remove the 10 cover screws.
- Remove the cover carefully, as oil may remain in the cover.
- Remove the spacer from the flange and yoke, as necessary.
- Using a magnet, remove the pulling sphere out of the speedometer gear.
- Remove the speedometer gear.
- Place the transmission over 2 pieces of wood.
- Using locking pliers, remove the snap ring from the 5th gear bearing.
- Using a hammer and punch, remove the roll pin and the 5th gear fork.
- Remove the taper and the synchronization ring from the 5th gear.
- Remove the 5th gear synchronizer assembly with the fork.
- Remove the 2 roller bearings and spacer.
- Remove the push pulley.
- Using a magnet, remove the pulley sphere.
- Remove the 4 screws from the bearing retainer.
- Using a screwdriver, carefully remove the retainer.
- Remove the retainer bearing.
- Remove the drive shaft.
- Using a hydraulic press or a remover, remove the bearing from the counter shaft, when necessary.
- Remove the bearing race from the main shaft.
- In order to remove the main shaft bearing, fasten it to the synchronizer and pull up with one hand and push down with the other hand.
