Removal Procedure
- Grind the stakes from the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing (1).
- Position the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing (2) on a press so that the front of the housing is down.
- Install
J 43768 driver
(1) onto the tone wheel (3).
- Using
J 43768 driver
(1), press the tone wheel (3) from the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing (2).
Installation Procedure
- Position the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing (3) on a press so that the front of the housing is facing up.
- Align the tone wheel (2) so that the outside edge is facing up.
- Install the tone wheel (2) onto the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing.
- Install
J 43768 driver
(1) onto the tone wheel.
- Using
J 43768 driver
(1), press the tone wheel onto the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing.
- Locate 4 positions on the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing (3), 90 degrees apart from each other, that have not been previously staked.
- Install
J 43767 staker
onto the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing with the 2 staking prongs at 2 of the 4 staking positions.
- Install
J 43768 driver
(1) onto
J 43767 staker
(2).
Caution: Stake the tone wheel to 9 tons. The accuracy of the pressure gauges on presses varies. Start at a lower pressure and increase to 9 tons. Too great a pressure will distort the tone wheel. Too
little pressure will result in stakes that will not hold.
- Stake the tone wheel to the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6 clutch housing.
Note: If necessary, tap
J 43768 driver
and
J 43767 staker
to remove the tools from the 1-2-3-4,
4-5-6 clutch housing.
- Remove the J tools and repeat steps 7-9 at the remaining 2 staking positions.
- Remove the J tools.
