The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A condition exists where the PTO Remote Start Functionality is Inoperative on the above vehicles due to a calibration issue.
The following Body Control Module (BCM) calibration part numbers have been released to correct this issue. These calibrations will enable PTO Remote Engine Start *.
w/ Upfitter Installed Stationary Variable Power Take-Off, w/ KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO+AP3) - 25880618
w/ Upfitter Installed Stationary Variable Power Take-Off, w/o KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO-AP3) - 25880619
w/ Preset Power Take-Off, w/o KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO-AP3) (replaces BCM production calibration-25868164) - 25880620
w/ Preset Power Take-Off, w/ KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO+AP3) (replaces BCM production calibration-25868165) - 25880621
w/ Upfitter Installed Stationary Variable Power Take-Off, w/ KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO+AP3) - 25860458
w/ Upfitter Installed Stationary Variable Power Take-Off, w/ KEY FOB Remote Start* w/o Remote Start* (RPO=PTO-AP3) - 25860460
w/ Preset Power Take-Off, w/o KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO-AP3) - 25891045
w/ Preset Power Take-Off, w/ KEY FOB Remote Start* (RPO=PTO+AP3) - 25891046
PTO Remote Engine Starting is available on all PTO equipped vehicles via dedicated wiring in the upfitter connector and does not require the OEM KEY FOB based REMOTE START feature (AP3). In addition to re-programming the BCM, PTO Remote Starting must also be enabled via the Tech II service tool. Currently, the PTO Remote Engine Starting is only operational with the key removed from the ignition OR with the key in the OFF position. A new Powertrain service calibration is planned for Summer 2008 that will permit PTO Remote Engine Starting in all key positions.
BCM re-programming is still required for 2007 & 2008 vehicles to reconfigure the PTO system type to Mobile Variable or Stationary Variable. Beginning in MY09, no reprogramming of the BCM is required to configure the PTO system type.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
