The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A technician may notice an exhaust rattle when the engine is shut off.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If a tech has verified an exhaust rattle noise when the engine is shut off, listen for the noise in the catalytic converter area. If the noise is coming from the catalytic converter, it may need to be replaced.

At this time, all 2007 LMM exhaust components are on a parts restriction through the Powertrain Quality Center (PQC).

Please contact the PQC at 1-866-654-7654 and discuss the vehicle concern. The PQC will contact engineering to discuss any requests for Exhaust Particulate Component replacements.

Follow engineering/PQC suggestions, and repair the vehicle as necessary.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
